Test Name:
KMT2A::AFF1 t(4;11) (aka MLL::AF4)
CPT Code:
81401
Turn Around Time:
24 – 72 hours
Clinical Application:
Detection and quantitative monitoring of the KMT2A::AFF1 fusion transcripts, the molecular result of t(4;11), the most frequent 11q23 translocation in precursor-B-ALL, associated with poor prognosis in B-ALL.
Diagnosis and monitoring.
Methodology:
Real-Time Quantitative PCR. Minimum sensitivity: 0.01% – 0.001%
This assay detects three different KMT2A::AFF1 variants: 1) KMT2A exon9::AFF1 exon5; 2) KMT2A exon10::AFF1 exon4; 3) KMT2A exon11::AFF1 exon5
Specimen Requirements:
RNA-based assays
Peripheral Blood: Minimum 2 mL in EDTA (purple top) preferred or 2 mL in sodium heparin (green top)
Bone Marrow: Minimum 2 mL in EDTA (purple top) preferred or 2 mL in sodium heparin (green top)
Storage and Transportation:
Please store and ship specimens at ambient temperatures.
Ship RNA-based assays within 24 hours for optimal results.
